21 Days to a Hunger-Free {and Healthy!} Holiday: Week 2- Share

Print Friendly

Hey hey! I want to apologize that you haven’t heard from me much this week! If you follow me on facebook or twitter, then you know why, but if not, then I’ll tell you! I have been in LA since Thursday night hanging with Candace Cameron Bure! (and we ran a race!) I will fill you in on the whole trip later (complete with pics!) but for now, let’s move onto week 2 of the Hunger-Free Holiday Challenge!

(Here is a sneak peek. Our team- Muddy Buddies-Before! And yes, you do spot, Andrea Barber, a.k.a Kimmy Gibbler!)

I hope you all are faring well with the challenge. I’ve had some awesome responses with it! If you have messed up this past week, then no worries! Just start fresh today! Any amount of money that you end up donating to the charity of your choice is worth it!

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13:16

Last week we talked about sacrifice and how Jesus is our greatest sacrifice and the best example of it! Today we are going to talk about sharing! What a simple concept that we learn from such a small age, but so critical in our lives!

I am thankful for people who have shared in my life be it financial, support, or their stories. They always fill a need in my life!

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 1 Timothy 6:18

Today’s post is short, but I’d like you to fill in the blanks. Has anyone ever shared with you and met a need in your life? Do you have a story from this challenge that you could share? Let us know below, or link up a blog post if you are a blogger!

  1. Last week was not the best for me in regards to making as many healthy choices as I could have. But I did bank some time and was able to turn the sacrifices I made into a blessing for someone else. I’m ready to face week 2 head on!!

  3. Last week was 50/50 — I made healthy food choices 90% of the time and the times I didn’t were times I knew were coming and I was able to 1) eat accordingly in advance and 2) show restraint in the circumstance so I was pretty happy about that. Knowing this was about my friend and sacrificing for her made a huge difference — her name came to my mind every time I was tempted to make an unhealthy choice! I didn’t however, get as much exercise in as I had hoped and that was disappointing. I’m going to work on that more this week.

Years ago, I was in a very slow period with work. I’m a freelancer so when work is slow, there is NO MONEY coming in. I was managing okay, cutting back on expenses and such but still, it was stressful. A friend from church heard about my circumstances and sent me a card with $100 in it. It really blessed me that she saw my need and was moved to do something. It really helped me remember that God is the God Who Sees and He uses His people to bless me.

    • Aurora, thank you for sharing that testimony. God is so good! I love hearing people’s stories of God’s amazing works like that.

Thank you also for the tip. Visualizing my family I am helping might just be what I need to help me move more too. :)

  4. Oh my, what a great picture! Truly inspiring. I have her book on my Christmas wish list, so hopefully it will be wrapped under our tree with Mommy’s name on it. :)

I could share so many times in my life when people shared with me. We are blessed with a wonderful church family that loves and supports us. One thing that I feel led to share is that my mom lives in Hawaii and is far away from me most of the year. I have had a couple of ladies within the church met that motherly need… The physical being of a “mother figure” just to love me on Sundays and encourage me. One precious lady and I go out to breakfast once a month and it is so nice to have that. My mom also appreciates it as well.

It isn’t always a monetary gift that someone needs to speak volumes to their life, but just the gift that they matter and are important to you. Encourage someone today and I promise you you will walk away encouraged.

Love this blog Clare. I pray for you all the time and thank God for you. I can’t wait to hear more about your trip. Thank you for all the work, time and effort you put in to this precious blog.

    God Bless.

  5. Two sweet friends from our church provided financially so that my husband and I could attend the Guthrie’s Respite Retreat in TN. There was no way we could ever afford the registration fee alone in addition to the travel. It was such a wonderful weekend meeting the most wonderful people and having Biblical truth poured into us. It was such a blessing to see my husband finally be able to connect with other dad’s that have lost a child too.
