Living and Active: Week 1 “Tied Together”

Print Friendly

Wow! We have so many of you ready to dive into this challenge. I am praying for you all often throughout the day, so know that you are not in this alone! Let’s not waste anymore time! (At the very top of my home page, I’ve put an area called “*LivingActive*” that will be an index for all the info in the challenge so it’s easy to access at your fingertips!

There’s  A LOT of info in this post to print and read today, so stay with me! (It won’t always be like this!)

♥♥♥

First off….

Print off this calendar. This is an easy way for you to keep track of the exercising you’ve done for the week and the scripture memorizing!

Now, onto the spiritual part….

We are going to be discussing some key points that God has given us in His “Living and Active” Word that will help you through your health journey.

Key # 1: TIED TOGETHER
Scripture Memory (aka, “Soul Food”) Ecclesiastes 4:12

Click here for printable that you can cut out. I included two sizes. The smaller one fits into something like this if you want to carry it around with you!

And here is a little insight and challenge for you about this Key! (You don’t have to print this. Click on image to enlarge!)

Let’s get physical!!!

You can keep your own workout routine OR take this guided routine I have below. (This will be the routine for Weeks 1, 2 and 3 although I may come along and refresh things up a bit!) Feel free to mix and match as you don’t need to do them in this order. (just avoid strength training on back to back days) This is a pretty basic routine. If you’ve been exercising for any amount of time, it may not be as challenging, so add on as needed!

And for those of you who enjoy more free {Christian!} videos, check out Revelation Wellness.

Here it is in detail:

Workout 1:

Clare’s Fav Full Body Workout (Video): 3 times (Explanation of Exercises)

Ab Routine # 1 (Printable) *If you aren’t sure how to do these, then look for them in my search or “Abs” category!

Workout 2:

“Your Choice” Cardio Day (25-35 minutes): Choose between running, walking, kickboxing, swimming, your favorite cardio DVD etc. There are no intervals, hills or sprints here. Just keep yourself at a hard enough pace through the whole time that would make it hard to keep a long conversation.

Muffin-Top Makeover (Printable)

J.Lo # 1 (Video): 1 time

Workout 3:

NMM 1 Year +Push up with band and butt blaster (Printable)

Ab Routine # 1 (Printable: Same as Workout 1)

Workout 4:

Crazy Cardio: Go to an outdoor track, treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, bike, or even a big hill outside. Warm-up for 5 minutes, then do intervals where you sprint/run or move faster, then slow down. Start the intervals with 3 minutes steady state, then 1 minute of going all out. Repeat those intervals for a total of 15-20 minutes. Feel free to adjust the ratios if you need more or less recovery time.

Muffin-Top Makeover (Printable : Same as Workout 2)

J.Lo # 2 (Video)

Now, for some accountability…

This was a little confusing for some of you and I understand why. Our first official CHECKPOINT will be next Monday, the 17th. This is where, IF YOU WANT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PRIZE, you have to check in. (I will detail that out next week what you have to complete for this) If you could care less about that, then no need to sign in each week, but I suggest that it will be a great source of accountability for you! And FYI–You DO NOT need a blog to be a part of this challenge!!

♥♥♥

If you are a blogger then link up below with a post letting me know what your workout plan is, who your accountability person/group is, and any other info you’d like to share with me! And if you don’t have a blog and would like to comment below with the same information, I’d love that too! (This is NOT mandatory, but this is where the community will encourage us!)

(A special thank you to Christina of Grace Designs Photography for taking pictures of my shoes and Bible! Yes..they are really mine!)

WHEW! This is a ton of info, so please feel free to ask any questions you have! Also, be sure to grab my button (above, or grab from sidebar!) and share the love with your friends. Which brings me to one final question…some will ask, “Is it too late to join?” No!! You can join at any time. The only stipulation would be if you didn’t exercise 4 times/week and memorize the weekly scripture for entry in the grand prize package. (I promise we have one! I am still tying up all the loose ends of it!)

  1. I am going to be doing this 5 week challenge. This will give me some accountability to write and some working out. Thanks for this chance!
    Wendyll

    • Oh yeah, I am going to be running, Monday/Wed this week, 3 miles. I am doing a 5k race on Saturday. Tues/Thur I will be doing your strength training videos. Friday I am taking a break before the race on Saturday.

  2. I’m so incredibly excited about this! God has perfect timing and this is just what I was looking for, so thank you!

Starting a new routine to hopefully kick things into gear to meet a goal before my birthday later in October :-)

Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

  3. WOW! Thank you, Clare!!

  4. I know I already said I would be doing this, but I didn’t post who my accountability partner is — it will be Mary Glass! ;) Also, I am consideirng using your suggestions for workouts, but will modify or substitue if time or work don’t allow, but I definitely plan on doing 25 minutes minimum 4 days a week. I have needed this encouragement. I do best with goals and accountability. I have gained back a lot of weight that I lost two years ago and become very sedantary, due in part to my increased hours of my job (where I sit all day) and our crazy schedule right now, but mostly it’s just that I’ve allowed myself to get out of the habit and get lazy and I’m excited to have this be a jump start physically and spiritually (love the combo!) back to where I need to be. Thanks, Clare! ;)

  5. This is the kick in the pants that I needed. :D I don’t have all the equipment that you’d like, but you know what, I’ll still be moving for those 25 minutes 4 days per week. :D Thank you for putting this out there for everyone. Best of all, it helps me spiritually as well. And nothing can beat that!

  6. I’m so excited about this, thank you for doing it. Ready to get started!!!

  7. Katrina Boyland says:

This is awesome!!! Feels as though you are right here for me! Got my exercise ball, bands and jump rope today!! I have weights. I’m so ready to kick this tomorrow!!! I’m in for it the whole way plus going to continue doing the exercise plan you have posted, this helps me so much!! I’m ready to shed the 100 lbs I need to lose! Thank you again and God bless!! :)

  8. SOOOOOOO looking forward to this kick in the butler :0)! Perfect timing as the Lord always is! Thanks for putting this together. Hope I can keep up…I have, in my mind, about 80 pounds to lose 0_0…did I just type that…for ALL the world to see? EEEPS! Be gentle..hahaha!

  9. I am so super excited about this! Yes, as always, God has perfect timing. we just decided this past week at my office that we were starting a challenge this Monday to see who could lose the highers %of weight by Dec 01. I am someone that needs this accountability and the calender….ready to get started! we can do it!!!!

  10. I am so excited about this challenge! We begin Made to Crave in 3 weeks. I have just recently began teaching Devoted Fitness. If you haven’t tried it, you must see if there is a class near you. Last week we burned over 800 per class! This is all set to some fabulous Christian music! Training for my next set of songs will help me stay focused on this challenge as well. Let’s do this!!!

  11. We have 9 people in our facebook group we created ready to start the challenge! Thanks for putting this together!

  12. I’m looking forward to joining in this challenge! I just began a FB Biggest Loser Challenge, and this will compliment that accountability group perfectly! My health/diet accountability and encouragement partners are the 29 other women in that group. I’m exercising 5 times a week to “Chalean Extreme” videos, and doing a treadmill at least 3 x a week. I am mostly looking forward to the spiritual aspect that this challenge is giving. I plan on memorizing the verses, and read your devotionals each day. Spiritual discipline is the most important kind of discipline I can have, and I plan to put it above all others. Thank you for the time you are taking to open this blog up to everyone. I appreciate you!

  13. Katrina Boyland says:

Okay I must confess. This is a little scary for me but I will be doing it. I never did workouts before like this. I tried the dvds but got bored. Can you help me figure out a plan on which days and what to do? I don’t want to lose this chance you are giving me! I’m so blessed He has put you in my life! Being a mom of 5 I have always put everyone before me and now I want to put me first. Thanks for doing this!!! God bless!!

  14. I am doing this!
I recently got diagnosed with asthma and I KNOW I need to stay active to keep things under control so having some accountability will definitely help!

I don’t have an accountability partner yet but would love one.
Anyone else have a need for one? Maybe we could be each other’s partner? :-)

  15. I love how organized this is! I found a partner! I don’t know her, but she is a fellow GMG. I look forward to bumping up my fitness routine. I need these challenges to get me up off the couch (er, computer…). Clare, you have done an exceptional job and love your printables and workout videos. I’m a big fan of you New Move Mondays so this will be a culmination of it for me.

  16. I have been waiting for this to start all weekend. I am still looking for an actual person to hold me accountable. On the days my husband is home I am sure he will but he is gone almost half the week working. Praying hard that this gives me the kick I need before the cold weather hits and I get stuck in “winter weather mode”.

If anyone needs a partner or if someone has started a group that I could join I would love to. Knowing there is someone out there waiting for my “I did it” each day makes this all the more determining.

  17. I’m going to be doing a strength training circuit at the gym Mon. & Wed. mornings. I go to zumba later in the day on Mon. & Wed. Then on Tue, Thur, and Friday mornings, I do a workout video at home. Right now, getting my backside kicked with Jillian Michaels! Looking forward to the challenge!

  18. Thank you so much for doing this! I can’t wait to get started. I live in the US, and my accountability person is my best friend in the UK. My plan is taking a HIIT class at the YMCA 3 times a week and on the off days either swimming or running. I WILL get this weight off! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scripture memorization! Thank you for making that a part of this challenge. Looking forward to this! Thank you!

  19. Is it too late to join Living and Active? I would love to partake!

  20. Wow – its hard to hit the snooze button when you’ve made a commitment to God before other people!! Very sneaky!! I am so out of shape – I kept myself going by breaking my routine down to 4 sets of 7 minutes. I told myself you did 7 minutes – you can do 7 more – finally 28 minutes. Thanks so much – I need this.

  21. I am so excited ready to get started!

  22. Clare, You have done an amazing job with this. Thank you for all of your hard work!! You are blessing so many with this!!

  23. this challenge is perfect timing for me. i’ve been trying to take better care of myself for the past few months. we had a “summer fitness challenge” at work and it just ended. this will really help me stay motivated.
thank you for the time you put into compiling all of the videos, printables, etc. such a huge help for a newbie like myself.

  24. Yesterday didn’t end well – one of those stupid disagreements with my husband. So I drowned my sorrow in an extra half hour of sleep this morning, thinking the heck with getting up and exercising. Now I’ve read this and – of all things – the Scripture you chose is what we used for our wedding. Talk about a kick in the pants! So after work I believe I need a time out with God and a long walk and thanks that I can still get in 4 days this week. God bless you! And thank you Clare! (I think this is where someone says “Coincidence? I don’t think so.”)

  25. I am in week 3 of Couch to 5 K. I am running/walking 3 times a week, but need to do some type of strength training on the other days. Your workouts you have planned are amazing! I can’t say “THANK YOU” enough for all you have done to make this possible! I am very excited…I have my calendar and bible verse printed…Let the FUN begin!!!

  26. Day 1 workout done! I have this week’s Bible verse on the notes section of my phone so that I can look at it frequently this week as I memorize it! I am ready for this challenge! :-)

  27. erin, what exercise plan are u following, and do we go to your site to get the scrpture verse.

  28. Heather Ryerson says:

I’m in! I just started a couch to 5k last week and this is perfect for accountability and variety in my workouts! I love the scripture references too. Thanks so much! Looking forward to seeing all the progress of everyone involved!

  29. Just finished workout #1 now to memorize the scripture.

  30. So ready and excited to start this. My accountability partner is my husband. Just what i needed right now!!! Thankyou! I love all the workout you have and also am doing yoga, and training for my first 5k. Doing the couch to 5k program. Thankyou again

  31. I am so excited to be doing this challenge. I need the accountability. I have been doing a workout routine for over a year and not having the results with food that I need to get to my goal. I know it is because I have forgotten God in my journey. So thank you for bringing us all together and I look forward to being on this journey with you all! Thank you again!
    Praying for all!

  32. Here’s my blog for today! :-)

  33. Abby Nealous says:

I am mostly excited about the scripture memorization. Growing up I loved memorizing but when I went to college I got very side tracked and now its hard to find the accountability to keep memorizing, retaining, and recalling scripture.
As far as the fitness goes, I will be walking and biking for cardio and only arms for strength training since I am 38 weeks pregnant!!
My husband and college friend will be my accountability partners.
Thank you for taking the time to intertwine fitness and faith for us.

  34. I started a week ago – feeling great!!

  35. Jennifer K. says:

I just found your blog through Time-Warp-Wife’s! I really need to lose weight and have 100 excuses not too! I am definitely looking forward to giving this a shot. I hate going into things without a plan but I LOVE, LOVE that you have a printable calendar so I can check off when I memorize my verse and exercise. I”m not going to lie, some of these exercises look daunting and I don’t have an exercise ball but I will do my best!!

    Thanks!!!

  36. I am going to be doing My Leslie Sansone Walk tape w/band & small weight. I am going through my first week with Katie Farrell as my health coach so I have to be accountable to her each week! Thank you so much, I’m really looking forward to this.

  37. I’m so excited to get back into a routine with my workouts!! I’m going to be doing a walk/run or at least 20 minutes plus my PT exercises (which include bridges, side bridges, leg stretches and ab/kegel work). My accountability partners are my mom and SIL.

  38. I will be doing walking/running intervals monday, wednesday and friday. And then tuesday, thursday and saturday I will be doing strength training. My accountability partner is my friend Rachel.

  39. I tried writing a blog post today on “weight loss” but I just couldn’t find the words. This is my motivating scripture for our challange:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
    Galatians 5:22-23

  40. I am very excited! Hoping the slight injury will be over by tomorrow. I have been wanting to run for days!

  41. I linked up, but I will be doing Jillian Michael’s 30day Shred and continuing on with my c25K – heading onto week 4! YIKES!!!!

  42. Kate Schmida says:

So excited to be a part of this! I got in 45 minutes of weight training this morning, 10 minutes of ab work and then a quick 10 minute walk. My accountability partner will be my friend Victoria who is also going to be a part of this challenge!

  43. I am excited to join this challenege! I am so thankful that I stumbled across it today. And especially on the 1st day no less!! I have 40 pounds I would like to lose. My biggest set back when it comes to weight loss is time. I have 4 kiddos 5 and under and things get a little hectic around here at times, but with that said, I have learned that you only have time for the things you make a priority! I am praying for my accountability person and for everyone who has joined. Thank you for all the resources and for creating a place like this for all of us to gather. : )

  44. Hi all!
Okay, I’m in. I too need this. I have lost 9 1/2 pounds in the last month, and need to lose 25 more…so this sounds good!! I am already walking 3x a week for 20 min each and bowflex every other day…but would love to add this in. LOOKING FOR AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER….PLEEEESE!! I 48, all kids grown, working part time, massage therapist for 13 years and through menopause (that’s partly where my weight came from)…if you can relate to my life and need a partner….?????!!!!!!!
    Blessings & Wellness

  45. Very excited to be participating in the challenge. Interval training on M/W/F jogging on T/Th/S. Hope to add in a weeknight evening of swimming too! Got my linky on here and ready to twitter away.

  46. Yay!! I’m so excited about this! Today I got my 40 minute walk (pushing a triple stroller, so it really is a workout! :) in and I’m hoping to do some toning videos later on.

Thank you so much, Clare! You are awesome!

  47. I’m in. My workout schedule will be 2 cardio and 2 strength training a week.

  48. Monica Ware says:

It was hard for me to work out today seeing as someone at work got me upset & frustrated, but I did it! I did the cardio DVD of the Insanity work out today. I could only do 25 min. but it’s a hard work out to do! My schedule will be Insanity (mixture of cardio & resistance) & jogging & hopefully Zumba on Sat.
I’m really excited about the scripture memorization too because my memory is really bad.
Thank you so much for this! We can do this ladies!

  49. I am severely overweight so I’m starting into the workout routine by moving more. My 11yr old daughter and I are doing this together. My daughter doesn’t have any weight issues but I want to show her a healither life style…get the whole family involved!!! :-) My daughter and I are going to alter the following: Leslie Sansone walking videos, riding our bikes (around our neighborhood or on a trail), walking at the local park trail w/friends and walking our 2 big dogs…4x’s a week and looking forward to learning new scriptures. Looking forward to this! I don’t have time to blog about this but will be following your blog and checking in.

  50. I’m in! Joining my ‘strand’ Michele (she’s always bossing me around!) Love the addition of scripture.

  51. I am SO on this, I’ve been unemployed for 10 months, started a new job last week & KNOW I owe it all to God. His hand was in all of it. In the process of getting the job I put on 15lbs. Not sure how that happened other than I think I just quit trying to lose it or maybe I was happy that I was no longer going to have to eat ramen?

Anyway, I plan on interval training three days a week & strength training two days a week… counting calories & spending each morning in my Bible with the #hellomornings challenge. They’re my accountability partners too :)

  52. Veronica Barnes says:

I am loving this challenge so far. Thanks for the work and prayer time that you put into this challenge. I am following along with my daughter and we will be doing the work outs listed here modified and workout dvds at home. I am a member of the Peak team on Spark People headed up by Erin. It is a great group. Many blessings to all of you following this challenge.

  53. ok – i’ve said it before,…but i’m saying it again. i will do this. God gave me this body and i must take care of it. I will welcome the prayers of others and those that I will be accountable to each week. I’m sitting here – incredibly tired after a very long and difficult week at work this past week and cannot even imagine moving my body tonight. God will help me.

  54. Hi Clare- I signed up the other day, but I am not showing up on the list. Do I need to sign up again? I don’t want to if I do not have to (do not want to duplicate my sign in).

Really looking forward to this! Thanks!
    Heather

    • Hi Heather!
No you don’t. Which list are you talking about> The link up below the blog post? That is something you do additionally (if you want) on your own.
You are good to go. First check in is Monday and I’ll detail that process on Monday’s blog

      Clare

  55. I’m excited to start this! I don’t have an accountability partner, except maybe telling my hubby about my workout. My plan is simple. Pilates 3x a week, stretching, and walking the dog daily. And I’m trying to cut back on sugar. Prayers are appreciated. I have a giant sweet tooth!

  56. I am excited to start this challenge! I’ll be using hiking for my cardio and a combination of the strength exercises here and yoga for the strength training. I did an hour-long yoga class that left me sweaty today!

I don’t have a blog so I would love to find the facebook group to keep accountable. I applied to the closed peak313 fitness group, but I’m not sure it was the right group. Would love a bit of help!

    Thanks
    Frankie

  57. Day 1 has been a total success for me! Excited about this challenge!! =)

Also, I wanted to let you know that the code for your button isn’t working for me. Don’t know how it’s working for everyone else, but when I try to paste the code in my blog it just shows up as the box of code (like here on your page) and has 2 big lines underneath it. I’ve never had that happen before, so I thought I’d let you know something’s up.

    • Hey Sarah! Can you try it again? Make sure you copy the whole code..you have to scroll down a bit. I checked it earlier and it was fine. Thanks for the heads up and LMK if there are problems!
      Clare

  58. Ladies,
I am so in this challenge. I read about it last night but then went to bed without joining. Hope it is not too late!
I have lost 35 lbs since May but of course, hit a plateau and stopped for a month. I am hoping this challenge and workouts (Wow you are an amazing encouragement) I will get back into the swing of things! Thanks for including biblical references! I have been begging God to help me and encourage me and I found this through GraceFullMama’s facebook!
    Good luck ladies!
God Bless you on this journey!
    N

  59. Got in a 30 minute run and have the verse almost memorized. My accountibility partner is Amanda Noel. I have really enjoyed today and this challenge. Looking forward to getting healthier both spiritually and physically.

  60. Hi Claire, thank you for taking the time to do this for so many Ladies!:) I am excited about the challenge and super excited about the accountability to memorize scripture! I am looking foward to drawing closer to Him as well as seeing some physical results!:) I completed your workout today and also went for a walk. Tomorrow I am doing level 3 of Ripped in 30 with Jillian Micheals. Once again thank you!
    Blessings~

  61. A friend and I just completed a 13 week P90X workout. It was a success for both of us. Just felt like I needed to do more. After doing your planned workout I was sweating and my heart rate was up. It was great. Thank you for combining scripture with this program. Am looking forward to all you have planned.

  62. I’m so in. I’ve been working out and dieting and about to hit a major milestone. I am hoping this will get me there and more. I love the idea of adding scripture in. Very excited! I will be doing the biggest loser on Xbox along with biggest loser yoga fitness DVD. Also I plan to do more walking atleast 3x a week. I don’t have anyone to be accountable yet. If there us a group still available I would love to join! Thanks Clare for hosting this.

  63. Walked today. Cycling & weights tuesdays & thursdays.zumba wed. Something active w. Kids on weekends. Need an accountability partner.

  64. My girlfriend and I are taking up the challenge. We plan to walk on our own a few times a week and do a quick toning and then we also will meet 2-3 times a week (kid free) for a workout!!

  65. Started the challenge today….ugh….made it through:) Looking forward to the next 5 weeks!

  66. Will there be modifications for us pregnant mommas? Pretty please?!

  67. What a great idea Clare!!! I really need this. I’ve been trying to work out consistently on my own for months but it’s still hit or miss. I started a secret facebook group with some friends for accountability. God bless you for using your gifts to help others–so awesome!!!

  68. I read the comments and it seems like most everone is considerably more advanced than I am when it comes to exercise. A little intimidating. The routines on Peak 313 may be do-able in the future but for now, I will need to do some simple basic old fashioned exercises. Love the devotions, memorization of verses and the idea of exercise four days per week! It’s a start!

    • Natasja Sambale says:

      Hey Audrey,

I know how you feel! I haven’t been to a gym in years. I’ve only attended one gym and that was only for a few months. I’ve joined a gym last week but I’m also excited about the work outs on this site since my work schedule won’t allow me to go to the gym on a regular base. With anything new, just take it step by step and build it up. Don’t worry about others being further along cause there are some on here, like me, who are starting from scratch. It will be a first for me to memorize scripture. I’m scared and thrilled at the same time

    • Do what works for you! I started a fitness challenge doing the Power 90 program (a step down from the infamous P90x) 6 weeks ago, and the first month I was so frustrated because I could barely do any of the exercises like they did in the videos, I had to do modifications… I hadn’t done much exercising before then for at least 10 years. Now I am doing great at them and have even changed to a harder resistance band and am about to change to the videos that are a step higher/harder. One thing Tony Horton says in the video that always sticks with me is “Do what you can, go at your own pace, going slower and being able to last longer is better than having to stop sooner. Start where you can and keep moving and keep pushing, don’t worry about burning calories, as long as you are moving you are burning calories.” When I get frustrated or feel too tired I just remember that.

  69. Natasja Sambale says:

Yesterday I flew from Manila to Bahrain and was excited for the next update on the challenge. I found out my printer needs to get in shape first before I can print the schedule. I will do that today. I didn’t work out yesterday, however I have an appointment with a personal trainer at the gym in the afternoon. Honestly I was too tired for any work out yesterday after working a 9 hour flight (yes, I’m a flight attendant) and I went to bed early. I had a good rest and eager to work out today and get some reading done. Since Saturday I haven’t had any chocolate or other sweets and candy. It’s an area I struggle with but I need to lose some weight. I need to get some control in that area. Wishing everyone all the best during this challenge!

  70. I am very excited to find this, thanks to Biblical Homemaking website! It will be a great activity to get me through the last 6 weeks of pregnancy! Obviously will change the workouts a little bit to keep it safe but its so important to keep moving at this point. Not to mention having scripture to rely on to help me through labor! Thank you for putting this together.

  71. Kristin Hines says:

Day 1 got started off great! I completed workout 1 along with 1 set of the Proverbs 31:17 arm workout and some extra weight training for my arms and shoulders. I am also trying to “tighten” up my eating by having more salads, veggies, and fruits, managing portion sizes and my boredom/stress eating as part of this challenge. I have been cutting out my 1-2 diet sodas a day habit the last few weeks, in exchange for water to help increase my energy. This challenge is what I need right now to help me put exercise back into my life as a HABIT for my health, rather than something I do because I have compared my body to someone else. My husband is going to help hold me accountable, but I would love an accountability group or partner is someone is interested!

  72. I am in for this challenge. I have lost 54.5 lbs so far and about that many more to go. I have just started the c2k5 program and I also do kettlebells and the Jillian Ripped in 30 dvd. I am up to week 2 on that. If anyone wants an accountability partner I am interested.

  73. My workout yesterday killed me. I hurt today, and that means I did good! Tomorrow is my next one. I’ll just have to remember to distact my tottler with Curius Geroge so I can actually workout uninterupted.

  74. Jennifer K. says:

Hey, this might be stated somewhere but I didn’t see it. This is probably going to sound lazy but I will ask anyway..for each workout there are at least 2 workouts listed and on workouts 2 and 4 there are 3. Do we need to do all the workouts listed for that day? I hate sounding so lazy but it looks a bit daunting….I’m sure we do but I haven’t looked at the videos yet and I’m worried the videos are like 30 mins each…(I did the muffin top routine this morning and really enjoyed it).

    • I wouldn’t call them “workouts” but more like exercises. I tried to give you a full body workout thru the week. Remember, you don’t have to follow what I have either. You can pick and choose and do what works for you.

  75. Just was going to say you picked a great verse, one that must of really stuck with me, because after only 2 days I have it memorized. Yesterday I wrote it in my planner on today’s schedule, then later in the day recited it to my husband, this morning I was able to write it down without looking and recited with out looking as well. I am really bad at memorizing things, so the only thing I can think of is that the verse was exactly what I needed to hear right now… because it has already stuck with me. Feel free to facebook me or email me askdockris@hotmail.com if you need help with accountability. Here’s to a great week one!

  76. I am joining the challenge. I am planning to get better with memorizing verses and begin regular workout routines.

  77. I am so excited about this challenge!! I will continue to do my regular workout 6 days a week and will be incorporating some more exercising! Thank you for the challenge, I am praying about that. Excited to see what God has in store.

  78. Day 2 of week 1 done. I’m loving this. I could barely do the pushups yesterday (wasn’t able to go down far at all but I figure that I’ll do what I can do and I can only improve from there. Excited to see how much I improve in 5 weeks.

  79. Thanks for the encouragement to excersize my mind and body. The first day is done. I am planning to use your workout suggestions during the week. Becky R. is my accountability partner. We aren’t living in the same town now, but she is a strong Christian friend.

  80. The verse is getting there (why is it so much more difficult to memorize now that I am 50?). Walked 45 minutes (good pace) w/ my friend Donna – accountability friend. Ate “ok” today – but so happy that hubby offered me apples and/or oranges for a snack tonite! Blessings to all of you.

  81. So excited for this journey!

  82. That is such a challenge. Looking forward on this. Thanks!

  83. Hi Clare, LOVE this challenge you are doing!!!! I’ve been following from afar…. Three weeks ago, my back went out. Turns out I have Degenerative Discs. While I waited to get the MRI, the injections, etc…. I’ve been unable to workout. And so what’s a girl to do but comfort herself with FOOD. And certainly not healthy food. Ugh! I found out yesterday my running days are OVER. And that was a hard blow to handle (I ran 12 miles twice in training and missed my Half marathon I had registered and trained for). SOOOOO, today is a NEW day. I’m going to choose to get back on track with healthy eating and I’m going to learn to enjoy low-impact exercise…. and I’m going to do it! All that to say…. love your motivation here! It’s been hard for me to blog and keep up with my Weigh~in~Wednesday series when I’ve been in such a low place. Your posts are inspirational and will be a great way for me to get back on track!!! :-)

  84. I am blown away, and I haven’t even finished reading this post yet. I got to the verse you want us to memorize and nearly choked. For the first time in my life, I’m trying to read the Bible the whole way through. Starting in January, I’ve been reading a chapter a day, a book at a time, whichever book jumps out in my mind when I finish the last one. Four nights ago, I began Ecclesiastes and last night I read chapter four.

  85. I don’t have a blog, but one of my best friends does. :) I am doing this with her and am excited for both of us! So I’m in!

  86. I forgot to check off yesterday!:) I did complete the level 2 of Ripped in 30 and “played” some tennis with my husband. We tried anyways!:) I recited my verse! Today is complete as well. Ripped in 30 and a good walk!:) I am challenging myself also this fall with Beth Moores James study and am going to try to memorize the book:) We will see what happens. I love the accountabitlity and it so cool to know that so many are focusing on making changes to better themselves and Christ! Yay! Thank you! Claire are you talking about what we should eat on this at all? Just curious:)
    Blessings,

    • Hi Elisabeth: Not specifially, however I’ll be providing pictures of what I eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks to serve as a guideline and will also be touching on it here and there with various posts and printables.
      Clare

    • Thank you Clare! I will be checking that out:)

  87. I just did your Fav Full Body workout (2x) and also ab routine #1! Awesome combo, Clare! Loved it! It was fun to do something new and fresh today!

  88. I have been putting off working out for months now and this was the little bit of motivation I needed! Thank you! Yesterday I did the Fav Full body workout (3x) yesterday with my own ab exercises (since I have diastasis recti) and I am SORE (in a good way!). Today I did “suicides” for my intervals alternating with running around the backyard (2 little boys (3yo & 1yo) following behind, lol!) It was fun and a great workout. My 3 yo and I were singing the verse to keep me motivated! THANK YOU for such a great combination of working out, memorizing scripture and having accountability!

  89. So excited to do this. I needed something to kick my motivation back into gear. I’m doing P90X right now, which is 6 days a week. My friend Sara is going to be my accountability partner. Looking forward to getting in shape both physically and spiritually!

  90. Sharon Erdmann says:

I really need this! I’m working out with my daughter. Our plan for this week has been working out on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. So far, so good – we’ve made it through 3 of the four workouts. They are very challenging! I can already feel a difference in my strength! Thanks!

  91. Clare, I can watch you on my tv! We can stream youtube through our Roku player (the device we stream Netflix through). It was very helpful having the big screen to look at while following your “Fav Full Body Workout” Yesterday! Just wanted to share in case anyone else might want to view your videos that way and didn’t know they could. :)

    • That’s got to be a little scary! LOL!! Thanks for letting me know!!

      • Not scary at all! I like the way you lead me through the workout. You are kind, but firm. Your prompts are always perfect and I’m never left guessing what to do next or how to do it! You are such a blessing and encouragement!

  92. I am in for the 5 week challenge. My accountability partners will be both of my sisters :)

  93. I haven’t been up on reading my blogs but i just found out about this today so I’m going to start a week behind. I’m a little discouraged already though because the exercises are way too difficult for me. I’ve never found a trainer that can help someone get started with no level of fitness whatsoever. What do you do when you are so out of shape you can’t even do one jumping jack? Plus I have a knee injury. I’m going to try my best but I really don’t know how to modify exercises.

    • Hi Janet!
Hi there! I admire your determination! Check out Revelation Wellness’ video channel. She has some chair workouts for beginners (and maybe even some other beginner workouts) I think they are about 10 minutes. Keep choosing “load 10 more videos” at the bottom of the page until you get to those. LMK if you need any help with that!

Other than that, I would recommend some Leslie Sansone walking DVDs. They are a great workout with lots of options. You can do them in the privacy of your own home and they should be easy or doable for you! (I think you could order off of amazon) http://www.youtube.com/user/revelationwell?feature=CAQQwRs%3D

    • Hi Janet,

I just want to let you know that I totally know how it feels to be in your position! I’ve been working out just for a few months and I’m only now getting to where I feel like I’m doing it halfway right. It was a big challenge for me to just get started. Just remember, it takes baby steps. I also have a condition called plantar facitis, it’s bascially a chronic foot pain. It makes it hard to exercise. If you need any help at all, seek me out! My facebook address is http://www.facebook.com/#!/donna.travis I don’t have all the answers, but I’ve done enough research in the past few months, I’ve learned a few things. You should also check out the group at sparkpeople.com. They have free online videos that show exercises with some modifications. Don’t give up! Starting is the hardest part. But if you don’t start, you’ll never have a chance of getting any closer to your goal.

  94. Clare,
I’ve been struggling with starting up a good workout routine at home for some time now and I’m so excited to see this challenge! Its something that has gotten me motivated to finally take that step and start working out again after almost two years!! Thank you so much and I am so thankful to God for His timing. I’m a week behind since I didn’t see this until today :( But tomorrow morning I’m starting ASAP! Gotta get this body strong again and hopefully lose some inches along the way. I’ve been struggling SO very much with my weight lately. Count me IN!!

  95. Almost at the end of week one and so far, so good. I’ve alredy done my four days and thinking I might go ahead and work out tomorrow as well. And if you know me, THAT is HUGE! This has been so encouraging to me. I can’t tell you how good I feel about this and how thankful I am!

  96. Hi Claire, just checking in to let u know I completed this week☺ I have memorized the verse. I worked out 6 days this week. I have to admit I did wait until the end of the day because I was fatigued and had full days and was having some mind battles but…… I did end up doing them and was so thankful after!:) also one question is this where we write to you to be entered for the amazing gift? I was excited to see the gift set! Thank you!!!
