  1. Natasja Sambale says:

Ready for week 4! What a scripture this week! Chocolate is definitely one of my band-aids. Week 4 is so connected to week 3 as some of my cravings are also my band-aids. It’ll be a week of major reflecting. Happy I have almost 4 days off to spend some quality time reading, reflecting and praying

  2. Wow! This weeks devotional is hitting home and helping me understand that I have some heart work to do from my past. I was extremely skinny when I was in high school…not just skinny…stick thin! People thought I had an eating disorder…maybe I did…all I know for sure is that I hated being skinny coz I was teased unmercifully! Every day year in and year out! I had a hard enough time emotionally, as most kids do, with high school…the teasing and picking on me made it even worse!
Could this be why I yo-yo with my weight as an adult over and over again? Wanting to instinctually stay as far away from that high school pain as I can? Maybe!
Interestingly enough, my oldest daughter is going through a similar thing at the age of 21. She is thin, beautiful but thin, way under weight and gets comments ALL the time and HATES it…de ja vu! With her doctors, family and friends help she has slowly over the last two months put on some weight and she just recently commented on her Facebook, where all teens go to divulge their real feelings, that she finally feels like she has grown into her body…after 21 years. She has been putting it on, I have been taking it off…interesting mirror image we have here!

  3. I am really please with this week’s key. I know that the pounds that I have taken off so far has been a result of the Lord dealing with my heart. I am standing at the top of the weight loss hill as I still have 50 pounds to go to get to a healthy weight. Now the hard work begins, getting to the bottom of why I feel the need to bow down to the idol of food instead of crying out to God. I am looking forward to meditating on the scripture this week as well.

I had an awesome week. I did give in to some of my cravings and immediately recognized the behavior and got back on track. I memorized my scripture and worked out six days. I haven’t lost a lot of weight but I feel better and my clothes are fitting better and the kids have gotten involved. Praise the Lord!

  4. I had someone say some things to me last week that really hurt me. And then that person ignored me at church on Sunday! I’ve been trying not to let it get to me, but it still does. This verse is really good to remind me, and I appreciated your questions.

  5. Dear Clare,
This week was a little more challenging for me with both the memory verse and the exercise, but I persevered and accomplished my goals. Thank you for the accountability of the check-in :)

  6. This week the temptation has been to do nothing but then when you are battling allergies that is a given. I have been happy to this week maintain my weight and measurements in that I have been active this week but not as hard and intensely as I would like.

  7. Kristin Hines says:

I didn’t do so well with Week 3. I did do better with my eating and using portion control. I hurt my back and couldn’t exercise, but I was still disappointed I did not do as well. My goal is to do better on the challenge this week and keep up the portion control. I am trying to cut back my processed sugar intake and that has been going relatively well.

  8. Awe…weeek 3 was hard for me. It def was a challenge and I had no determination. I failed, but today is a new day, Praise God he renews us day by day!!! Thank you for the challenges, encouragement and faithfulness.

    Blessings,
    Adrienne

  9. I couldn’t finish my week due to hitting my head on our freezer and getting a concussion. My head is still hurting. But I will get better. I knew this challenge was what I needed and I love it. Even though I got stopped for grand prize it will not stop me from my real grand prize, getting healthy for life. I have 100 pounds to lose and I WILL do it!! Thanks Clare for all you do! If I can do this so can you. Seek God through the hard times and He will be there, even when we stumble.

  10. Super excited for week 4!! I’m out of town so exercising and eating healthy can be difficult but I will definitely make it happen!!! Love the soul food for this week!!!!
